In recent years the gaming industry has had a huge growth. We’ve seen new gaming consoles, great looking games and an increase in the number of people playing them.
We are presently in the seventh generation of video games which focuses on consoles released since 2004. The current generation is having a console battle between Sony’s PlayStation 3, Microsoft’s XBox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. A person buying a console will surely get baffled in deciding between these three. One thing to keep in mind is that every machine will have it’s own plus and minus points and you need to take your desicion based on how you want to use the console.
Let’s first tal
k about Nintendo’s Wii. Well the Wii is no doubt a great console and is infact pretty much ahead of the other two in terms of sales. Call it the casual gaming factor or the price, Nintendo has had the Wii on top. When Wii was launched, it came out with something new and this was motion sensing. With Wii users are able to physically move their bodies while playing a game. In short, it’s great fun to move your controller in a game like tennis so as to hit the ball. Besides this, Wii consumes very less power as compared to the PS3 and 360. Plus, it’s WiFi enabled too.
The Wii is getting good support and games at the moment and you can consider it if you are a casual gamer but beware that Wii’s visuals or graphics will not be comparable with the 360 or PS3 as it doesn’t have powerful hardware backing it.
If you are a hardcore gamer (Well, atleast I’m one of those!), then there are two powerful machines waiting for you – the PS3 and XBox 360. These consoles offer superb visuals and gameplay and are getting great titles at the moment. Most die hard gamers make a choice between the two and deciding one of them is something difficult. Before getting a PS3 for myself, I had done a lot of research on the two. I considered various factors and then made my choice. So you will need to give it a thought.
You must have heard much about the PS3 and XBox 360’s hardware and capability. Let’s give their hardware specifications a look. (click on the image below to get a bigger view)
Both the machines are quite powerful and have strong hardware supporting them. To be true, the PS3 has a slight edge over the 360. The Cell Processor and RSX present in the PS3 are really powerful and provide it with great visuals. The PS3 also has a Blu-Ray drive as compared to the 360’s DVD drive. Besides, the PS3 also has WiFi built-in while you will have to shell out some bucks to get an adapter if you want wireless connectivity on the 360. The earlier’s storage bin is a 2.5″ laptop hdd and can be upgraded with any other 2.5″ drive easily but you will have to buy another HDD only from MS if you plan upgrade the 360. The PS3 controllers also have motion sensing technology (Six Axis).
That was about the 360’s low. The 360 is even better than the PS3 in some instances. The PS3’s cell architecture is something new. The XBox 360’s processor can thought of as a normal processor just like the PC one. So it’s easier to code for the 360 whereas it’s difficult to do the same for the PS3. The Cell is harder to code for but in recent time game coders have got hold of it and are utilising it better. Another thing to notice is that before playing games on the PS3, you need to install a part of the game on the hard drive. It takes about 5-10 minutes to get over with the installation process. It can be a bit frustrating as you do not need to do anything of this sort on the 360 while playing the same game.
One more important thing is the Online Play. Microsoft’s XBox Live service has been there since a long time and is well developed while on the other hand, Sony’s PlayStation Network is relatively new and lacks some features but is getting better with time. The XBox Live is a premium service and you will have to pay a regular fee to access the online features on the 360 but with the PS3, the PlayStation Network is a free service.
O.K. Enough!! Tell me what should I buy!!
Well this is what you must be thinking. After reading the above paragraphs, you must have got an idea about both the consoles. Below are some factors which will influence your choice:
1. Utility: If you want to use your console for both gaming and media purposes, then go for the PS3. It has a Blu-Ray drive and the built-in WiFi makes streaming media easy. By buying the PS3 you are also entering the world of high definition Blu-Ray movies, which can otherwise be a bit costly. It’s not just media, the PS3 also has great games with beatiful visuals.
2. Price: The XBox 360’s lowest model is pretty cheap at around $200. If you are looking forward to buying a console just for gaming, you can consider the Core but beware – the Core does not have any wireless controllers or hard drive.
If you want a PS3, you will need to shell out around $400. But with the features the PS3 has in store for you, the price is justified.
UPDATE: After a price drop, both the consoles are at par. The new PS3 Slim and XBox 360 Elite both go for $299. While the lower end 360 sells for $200, it’s better to get the Elite.
3. Exclusive Games : Most of the games are multi-platform games, that is they are released on both the consoles but there are certain titles that are exclusive to each console. That means you cannot get an exclusive for the PS3 to play on the 360 and vice-versa. Most of the exclusives are among the best games made.
> PS3 Exclusives: Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, MotorStorm 2, Killzone 2, inFamous ..
> XBox 360 Exclusives: Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden II, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction ..
So if you are an FPS lover, the 360 can be good as it has a lot of shooter games. The PS3 has a wide variety of games from different genres. A pretty good example of this can be the upcoming LittleBigPlanet. This game is really cute and creative and requires you to make full use of your imagination. I think people will love it.
4. Online Play: If you are looking forward to playing your games online, then the 360 will be better as it’s online play is better than the one on the PS3. For the XBox Live service, you’ll need to pay some amount whereas the PSN will be free.
5. Support: Both Sony and Microsoft are providing good support to their respective consoles and the 360 and PS3 are getting great titles at the moment.
But I don’t know what will happen to the 360 once it’s successor arrives. I had the original XBox earlier and when the 360 was launched, MS restricted support to the first one and as a result it faded out. While contrary to this, Sony still provides support to the PS2 and it’s still getting new titles. So I’m pretty sure now that my PS3 will last long but I can’t say anything regarding the 360.
Thus, you can make a choice based on these factors. Decide what suits you the best and make a relevant decision.
Another thing I want to say is that love your console and respect other people’s consoles. Whenever I visit any gaming forum, there’s always a comment fight going on between fans where they proclaim their system to be better than the other one and often abuse the other system. Every console has it’s attractions and drawbacks. Remember nothing is perfect! Each person has his/her own choice and you should respect it.
If you have extra money and have bought both the consoles, then it’s great for you. You can play the games available on both the consoles.
Otherwise you’ve to make a choice – The PS3 or 360 - It’s upto you. Let us know what you think.
UPDATE: My PS3 used to make some noise while I played Fifa 09, so I handed it over to the Sony guys and luckily they exchanged my 40GB PS3 with a new 80GB Motor Storm 2 Bundle!

As they say, the Wii is the best for ‘family’ gaming… however, the toss up is between the XBox 360 and the PS3, I could see the point in owning an XBox 360 or a PS3 and a Wii, but not an XBox 360 and a PS3…
In my opinion, the XBox 360 is better than the PS3… but you’ll see lots of opinions everywhere!

I was an owner of all 3 consoles until recently
I sold my x360, only because i saw no point in owning both mega consoles, in my opinion the PS3 has more horse power and will prosper even more in the long or “longer” run
But I must say with Gears of War 2 coming out on 11/7 I do miss it but Resistance 2 will do me justice too! BTW my Wii is collecting dust……

they said that ps3 you have to install the dvd into the console in order to play is it true cant it be just put the disc and click the power button to play like ps2 ?
Arjun
November 17th, 2008 at 10:02 am
@ Marc Spector: It’s just the same as putting the disc into your console and playing it but some games require you to install a part of them on the hard disk. It’s totally automatic and simple and you don’t have to do anything or worry. It just takes 5-10 minutes and you are done.

Like he said all three are great, I chose the Wii and the PS3 because I’m not too into shooters, but I would like to have fable 2.
Don’t forget ninja gaiden sigma for the ps3!

I owned an xbox 360..and about the only games I played were 360 specific games only..after some thought I traded a guy locally for a ps3 to enjoy bluray movies and games..I won’t bash either because both have individuality so its up to the person buying..what do you like more?

I bought my ps3 about a year ago. Ever since I got it a bought 2 games with it. one was a disappointment, and the other was the best game I have play so far. I bought cod 4 modern warfare and juice 2. Modern warfare was fun, a short game but a game you could play many times in different ways. playing online was the best online experience I have experience so far.
My first console was the first nintendo, then nintendo 64, a psx, then the ps2 and my last purchase was the ps3.
The day I went to buy my next console I did little research and I went to best Buy. At the place they had the wii, the ps3 and the xbox 360. At the time I was really undecided to what to buy. It had to be either the ps3 or the x box 360. I had been playing ps2 for a long time, games like god of war, socom, need for speed and many others. I heard so much about halo games from the x box and this is why I also wanted the xbox 360. I could only afford one. In order to make things easier I asked somebody that works there, This person was a geek of technology. He told me that his first choice was the xbox 360, and he really liked it. then he went and sold it to buy a ps3. The reason he told me was that it was cheaper to buy a ps3, than buying and xbox 360 and a blue ray player. He said that blue rays movies looked fantastic, and once he experience them it would be hard to see them in normal dvd form. I took his word for it and I got the PS3, I bought the 40gb, since I already had a ps2 I saw no need in paying the extra money to buy the 80gb.
I consider myself a gamer, not hardcore because I don’t have the time, but I play a few times a week. I am happy I bought the ps3. I lived with roomates (I am a college student) and ever since I got a 37 hd tv and the ps3, they keep bringing blue ray movies to watch. I recently bought another ps3 for my little brother who is 15. I share most of the games with him, and sometimes he comes to visit and we play together. The games we like are cod4, fight night, the new resistance 2.
This is why I like the ps3, I enjoy watching movies with my girlfriend in blue ray. the games I have are enough to satisfy my needs. I really don’t miss the halo games some of my friends constantly talk about.
This is my advice. If you are 100% gamer, go with the x box 360. It has more games. If you are 50% games and 50% movies, go for the ps3. it has enough games, it plays blue ray movies, and the online is just as good as xbox live.
In my opinion a lot more games gives you more variety, but at the end the best games are mostly offered to both consoles. Unless you are a game maniac who plays everysingle game, you really dont need that many but just a few. I suggest a good online game like call of duty 4. a good 2 player game, to me its fight night, a good racing game. gran turismo 5 prologue, a good arcade racing game (paradise city) and a shooter like the orange box to which it takes a long time to finish. One game you need to play is assasins creed, this game is beatiful. I don’t have no more because I had to sell it when I was in financial trouble you know college students don’t have a lot of cash. I recommend this game, everyone needs to play it and its offered to both consoles and PC.
so go and buy whichever console you think suits your needs, the only thing you should not do is criticize either console. both consoles offered just as much entertaining as you want them to. peace!

Tolga, your reason for liking the xbox 360 sucks. Clearly you don’t have a serious opinion.
Anyway, I would consider myself a gamer and have the xbox 360. I aboslutely love the console and Gears of War 1 & 2 are awesome amongst many other titles as well. I would actually recommend the console to anyone who is looking to purchase a new game machine.
Having said that, I have been doing alot of research on the internet lately and am thinking about purchasing the PS3 as well just to make my own comparison.
Anyways, I think both consoles are great in there own right. Maybe PS3 has a slight edge interms hardware i.e. Blue Ray etc… but when it comes down to the graphics and visuals, both consoles deliver well.
I suppose at the end of the day, you need to make up your own mind which console you prefer. If you can own both then why not but if not, then you can’t go wrong with the xbox 360.

Hi I just want to say that all this fanboy fight is total bullshit. I own neither of the consles but am planning to buy the PS3. Gaming is all about enjoy playing games and you should therefore buy the console you like. I own a PS2 and PSP and am therfore more comfortable Buying a PS3. Anyways it all comes down to what you like since in my view both the consoles are awesome. Good job Sony and Microsoft.
P.S. :- Great article.

I also feel that all games should be released for both the platforms as otherwise some people will be forced to buy a console they don’t like just for a game they like.

Hi, great article… What I have heard is that PS3 for more mature crowd as most of the games are violent.
Xbox 360 and WII are both good as their systems (especially the WII) features family oriented games.
I have a 14, 12 and 9 yr old boys, and am very conscious of the games they play.
Arjun
December 17th, 2008 at 11:56 am
@ Khalid: Actually, there are more shooter games for the 360 than the PS3. Most of the games are released on both the consoles. The PS3 has a lot of games that are not violent. The best example would be LittleBigPlanet, a perfect game for kids and adults both. In my opinion a PS3 will be a great choice for your kids.

I had a nintendo wii for about a year. The only reason I bought it was for Zelda. After awhile though I sold it and bought a PS3. I love my PS3 movies games and all run great. As far as the xbox 360 goes I dont really like it too many malfunctions, but I am partial to sony though. I have a nice PC so I can play most microsoft only games on it. If you are looking for the best investment buy a PS3 blurays is awesome and the media aspect is great. In the end though it is up to you.

A question about the games being installed on the PS3..(i’m refering to when you said some games install themselves on the PS3) is the file small?? and afterwards, can the file be deleted??…

Okay soooo I haven’t bought a console in god knows how long. I have been a PC gamer since I was a kid rocking the Amiga 1000. I recently stepped outta my box and bought the PS3. I have experience with the xBox 360 as my buddy owns one and I have played the Wii as my x-roomate had one. I have to say that the PS3 does not dissappoint. If you have a PC and you want to get the most outta of combining your console to a PC go with the PS3. I was able to unplug my USB keyboard from the PC and plug it into the PS3 with no problems to surf the web. Also, I have a 500gig HDD that my PS3 can access using my network connectivity. This is great when it comes to accessing all that music I already own. I am not bashing the xBox 360 in anyway…I almost bought it for RockBand but then I had a chance to see the PS3 and some of its games like Naruto and I was sold (the blue ray doesn’t hurt eiter =)

@ Nywles: The file size varies from game to game. In some instances, it can be around 4-5GB and can even be less than a GB.
You can delete the game data as and when you want. The data is not related to your saved games. If you delete it, you’ll just need to install it again once you run that game.

My son is a hardcore gamer and has the XBOX 360. He laughs at me when I say I want to get a Wii. However, even though I find the PS3 to be overpriced (I could care less about Blu-ray) I am going to buy it for him this Christmas after having so many problems with the XBOX 360 console. In less than one year of having the console it had to be sent back to Microsoft due to a chip problem. Now the new one that Microsoft sent to my son is having a problem. He wraps the console in a towel (something about overheating it) just to play his games. It’s ridiculous to invest so much money in very expensive games and then have your console fizzle out — NOT EVEN A YEAR. So I hope the PS3 is a better made machine. It’s a shame because my son really likes the XBOX 360, the variety of exclusive games, playing XBOX Live, etc. I don’t think that the PS3’s claim to fame regarding the Blu-ray is relevant since downloading media is the inevitable future of entertainment.

I just purchased the PS3 a week ago and I have been very happy with it.
Needless to say, both mega consoles are great (my friends own Xbox 360s as well as PS3s).
However, coming from a married man, I had to get the PS3. Why? It is perfect for my wife and I. I love shooters, sports and action games (Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Call of Duty, SoCom, EA Sport games) and she loves puzzles, shooters, arcade type games (Lumines, 1942, Rock Band, and Buzz!).
If I wasn’t married, I would have gotten a little more ‘hardcore’ and purchased the Xbox 360. I am not saying that Xbox has nothing to offer to the opposite sex. It’s just that the games that were geared towards my wife was on the PS3.
That and the Blu-Ray sold me

i honestly don’t like the way some of these posts are giving their opinions then on the next line saying that they haven’t given an opinion and are leaving the choice to the reader. just stop and either give an opinion or don’t comment. it’s pretty obvious you want to give an opinion and then try to cover it up by saying “it’s really up to the buyer” don’t you think i know that it’s up to me?:(

I’m from south africa and currently looking to buy either a ps3 or an xbox 360. In terms of price, the xbox is very appealing (i dont have a very big budget
) and i like the xbox controller, however I heard lots of stories from friends (and friends’ friends), about the xbox dying on them and i’ve found that two major toy stores, Reggies and Toys R Us no longer deal with xbox 360 for the same reason: the console had too many comebacks. Im not sure if the new jasper units resolved the RROD problem and i dont feel like finding out so for me i’d rather put in the additional cash to get the quality out of a ps3(blu ray being an added bonus), not have to pay for online gaming and not have to worry about stuff like the RROD, and at least then i’d be able to play God Of War 3

screw Xbox 360! my uncle has been through 2(Elite Systems) in the last year and on the other hand it is so f**king noisy. I have owned a PS3 for a year now and ive had no problems, it has the hardware advantage, its really quiet, and has about 95% of the games you will find on the 360. Buy a PS3!!!

I’m planning on buying a game console after a month, and I am a hardcore player though I do not have any consoles YET. My sister wants to buy a PS3 and I’m kind of hanging between PS3 and XBOX 360. I heard that for Blue Ray on the PS3 you need an HDMI cable, ( which i think is stupid ) because it’s sold seperately. Also whens the price going to drop down on the PS3??? THe xbox 360 has lots of viruses, yet good games, and the PS3… not really for hardcore gamers. I am sure that im a PS3, i just don’t want to be disappointed by it…

Xbox 360 is the biggest piece of sh*t you can ever invest in. My uncle has been through 2(Elite Systems) in the past year and they are as noisy as f**k. Do yourself a favour and do not buy an Xbox 360 because you are throwing your time and money down the drain. I on the other hand have had a PS3 for over a year now and in my opinion it was a great investment, it is quiet and you will never have any problems with it. Im not a fanboy, infact i was going to buy the Xbox 360 in the first place because of retarded idiots telling me how great the console is but fortunately they were all sold out. So i had to fork out an extra couple of thousand rand but it was worth it. Im extremely happy with my PS3 and would advise anyone looking to buy a console to get one.
Arjun
January 27th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
@ Delvy: If you’re going to hook your PS3 to an LCD TV, then an HDMI cable is desirable. Otherwise the composite cables bundled with the console would do it.
As for you considering the XBOX 360 for the hardcore gamers, I’d like to say that the PS3 has got great games including a lot of shooters. Actually, both the consoles get almost all the latest titles.

The Xbox 360 isnt so bad now. They have extended the warranty on their consoles and are currently fixing the RROD issues. (adding new chip sets and other components). The 360 also has the advantage in fps games, plus LIVE is better/more organised than ps3 online. With the price being so low, the 360 is my new favorite.

I have beee thinking about purchasing a console in the near future, and after reading all the opinions and advice offered i stll cant decide which console 2 get between the 360 and the ps3!i am a hardcore gamer so naturally i would benefit more from the 360 but am sceptical about getting one because of the RROD issues and the over-heatin,the Ps3 on the other hand is a little bit pricey bt the blue ray is worth it,the only thng is that i dont think it will be ideal for a hard core gamer like me!but i will make a decision!

@ Stunna: If you’re a hardcore gamer. then a PS3 won’t hurt you. Almost all the games released are multi-platform, so they are available on both the consoles. If the XBox 360’s RROD problem scares you, then feel free to get yourself a PS3.

I think this is all retarded. I am not a hardcore gamer by any means, but my brother is, he owns all of them, a PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, and a DS, I mean come on. But just so you all know he got the PS3 FIRST and it is by far his favourite. Xbox is so retarded, I mean come on it boasts about HD but then you have to buy that seperatrely. and it over heats cause it doesn’ t have a fan but then if you buy the fan and attach it the warranty is void. EVERYTHING is seperate on the xbox. while on the PS3 it is all there for you. and the xbox another stupid thing is that it is deisgned to either stand up or lie down but what no one tells you is if you stand it up you are way more likely to scratch your disks, even a slight jar of the machine will cause huge scratches, trust me, my friend richard did that to his guitar hero game. and even if you aren’t really into gaming just want the blu-ray buy a PS3 not a blu-ray player, they are cheaper and then if you decide later that you want to try gaming you can. and seriously if the 360 was so good how come it is already dropped in price and PS3 is still the same as when it came out basically, because sony knows it has the most superior product. my best friend erica bought her boyfriend an xbox for christmas 2 years ago and this christmas he bought himself a ps3, but hardly anyone i know buys a PS3 and then an 360. why? because they are totally happy with what they have.
so all in all PS3 rocks and 360 sucks

ya, SLUGboy, i agree with that kluesner69 kid, in that ur a f*cking retard. Why are people so worried about the Red Ring of Death..Yes ive gotten it once and my friend has too.. but we called in the Xbox company shit. and i mailed in my xbox and they gave me a new one with a free 1 month xbox live.. they also did that for my friend. it really isnt that hard just to send in ur xbox it took 2-3 weeks. but it was really worth it . Now to stay on the Article . i find the wii a family/kiddy console so i dont really like it. I like more sports and shooters thats why i picked the 360. But the 360 and PS3 are both great consoles it really just depends on what person. Yes. the online gameplay for ps3 is free. but it isnt as reliable as the 360 where thats why you pay money for it.. but in the end its really on the persons choice.

Sold my xbox360 after 2 years of ownership, bored of it, bored of cod4, i must admit, the look of the console and the layout all brightly lit was no longer doing it for me, and knowing the 360 was at its graphical limit, i chose to buy a ps3, glad i did..its sleek, modern looking, futureproof..the only reason why games at the mo are slightly better on 360 is that the ps3 is so hard to develop for, give it 6 months, the ps3 will start showing its colours and what its really capable of, tvs are now HD ready…blu ray becoming more and more popular, there is no need to buy an additional disc player, its more subtle when you use it as a dvd player as there are no bright lights blinding you, its so quiet too! with ref to installations, takes approx 10 mins, but yo udo that only once for each game, same as installing a game on your pc.
contrrol pads are charged via the cable supplied, no batteries to remove and charge nor additional gaming/charge packs to buy.. ok xbox live is far superior to home, but they do the same thing, i played far cry 2 online on ps3 over xmas and had a great time,
i agree with the ps3 is more ‘mature’ looking compared to the ghastly white cheap looking xbox 360… and as with all things… you get what you pay for

I agree with “a gamer”wii is not a good choice compared to xbox360 and ps3,Ps3 has The elder scrolls IV:oblivion although so does xbox360.xbox360 has halo3 but ps3 has resistance2 so either one rock.

I have a PS3, & am more than happy with it. I keep seeing comments that the hardcore gamer should buy the 360 as if there aren’t any hardcore games out for the PS3. Okay, we don’t have Gears of War 2, or Halo..fair enough, but Resistance 2 (60 players online), Killzone 2 is out tomorrow, Grand Theft Auto 4 (multiplatform) for driving there’s Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Grid (multiplatform), Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (admittedly, will be better when the full version comes out) Ridge Racer 7. We have the FIFA & PES games, & most sports games are multiplatform. There’s plenty out there. You can no longer say that the PS3 doesn’t have any good games, it has lots. I’ve had very few problems with the Playstation network, yes, very occassionally it will sign you out, but it’s very rare, & I don’t have any lag, & that’s using the built in wireless. People moan about the forced installs on PS3, but yet installing on the 360 is seen as a good thing (the fact that it’s optional on the 360 is a plus point). Apart from MGS4 which is a bit wierd, it’s usually less than 10 minutes the first time you play the game, & that’s it. If you run out of HDD space, just delete the install data from a game you’re not currently playing, it doesn’t affect your saves as they’re separate.
As for the 360, I couldn’t comment on XBOX live as I haven’t used it, but I will say this – I was in Game (UK Store) yesterday talking to one of the staff & he said that they were still getting faulty 360’s back daily, including the Falcon & Japser units. I don’t know details, it’s just what I was told. Right, that’s my two penneth worth.

PS3 – not hardcore? – Resistance 2 (60 players online), Killzone 2, MGS Online, COD 4. Motorstorm – Pacific Rift, Race Driver – Grid, GT5 Prologue, Little Big Planet, Grand Theft Auto 4. Sports titles are generally multiplatform anyway. Halo & Gears of War might be good, but they’re not essential. PS3 now has lots of good games, that’s no longer a good argument against it. PSN Network, had very few problems with it, no lag, & very minor disruptions. Forced installs, which apparently are a bad thing on PS3, but the option to install on 360 is a good thing. It’s generally less than 10 minutes the 1st time you want to play a game, & if you run out of HDD space, delete the data for a game you’re not currently playing. Save games are separate so it won’t affect that. I haven’t used a 360 so I couldn’t comment on the user experience, but I will say this – I was in Game recently talking to one of the staff. He said that they were still getting lots of faulty 360’s back, including the Falcon & Japser units. It’s just what I was told.

I chose the 360 last year. I’m not sorry for the decision as most of the games i want are out for the 360 and there are very few ps3 exclusives i want. In saying that i got rrod, and thats with the new chip set. Microsoft are being kl about it,collecting it themself but this has left me without a console for a couple of weeks which is a pain, so im tempted to get a ps3 whilst its in for repair. Meanin if it has to go for repair again which is likely then ill have a back up.

I own a ps3 now for about 4 months. I really like the ps3. You have some really good titles for it. The 360 looks good. both the 360 and the ps3 can play your own music in the games. I like having the Blu-Ray. (Even though I don’t use it) I think im a gamer and personly I choose a gaming console. The PS3 comes with wire-less controlers that doesn’t eat batteries. Also the Online Play is FREE.
Im rearly online but my gamer name is Philburt99. Mostly play GTA 4. It’s awesome. Hope I can play against you guys soon

the thing about ps3 is that its more expensive but it also have the import play ability , i have both and i use my ps3 more than xbox360 because i play import games as well and thats where the ps3 really shines , worldwide ps3 has more games , u just have to play it. this forum here is about ps3 or the 360 not both but whatever u decide to get u have to give up one of the others , mainly! ps3 for japanese and us games and also blue ray / xbox360 for us games and online because in the ” USA ” xbox360 has great online feature, its that simple and u cant blame sony either for the high pricing of the console , if sony takes out the blue ray and use the same tech as the 360 and i mean by putting games on dvd , get rid of the wifi and use the cable modem , no ps2 backwards ability and use the downloadable ware instead just like the xbox360 , less usb ports and no memory stick port ,then price it the same as the 360 it would probably outsold the 360 when first release because the online play is free and the region free ability and o it also took the 360 a good year before the good xbox games appear on the backward sections of the xboxlive , asian comsuemrs ( the one that lives in asia ) r crazy about top of the line products , thats y sony japan could careless how expensive it is because it is worth the money , first gen ps3 had it all and did asian people buy it more than the 360? hell yeah, world wide? heall yeah , sony japan concentrates on asian market first then world wide to sum it up and im not being racist , if u’re in the USA get the 360

My fiances Wii goes with the floating white shelves. My PS3 next to it goes with the piano black Samsung TV floating above it, what does a 360 goes with? I couldn’t look at it in my living room without thinking it made the place look untidy. On the other hand, the red lights would be pretty if I turned the room lights off.
Sorry, when reading that back, it does come across as more bitchy than I intended, but the two main reasons I won’t consider a 360 are the reliability (yes, I know Microsoft say they’ve fixed it, but see my post(s) above), & aesthetically speaking, it’s about as pretty as a wheelie bin. I know some people have compared the PS3 to a George Foreman Grill, but at least it’s got a nice modern finish to it, & no giant power pack.

Ok what other great games you can say about xbox and what other great games does ps3 say. Theres tons of ps3 exclusives if u think of a ps3 game its 70% exclusives. Xbox360 rush with their games and dont spend enough time twinking the game. Look at resistance2 and mgs4 and killzone2 they have very nice graphics and story mode and have uniqe online and its free to play online and theres a game will be relased on 2009 which supports 200 something players with a huge map. Its quality not quantity.

I have both an xbox and ps3 but i like my xbox better because online is cool i can download demos play games at the same time. Also Ps3 may be more powerful but i dont care they both run at 1080p. Xbox 360 has gears of war 2 (better anything the ps3 has). The blue-ray is nice but i never use it. I dont know why i bought a ps3 waste of my money.

for the xbox owners who don’t know what mgs4 is.
ITS METAL GEAR SOLID 4
ITS AN AWESOME GAME THAT WON A LOT OF AWARDS.
Motor Storm pacific rift is awesome and it never gets old.
Other games on the ps3 are great.
But for the 360 boys and girls there is Halo.
Only halo. thats it. no other games that look good. I’m into all types of games and the ps3 fills the order. 360 doesn’t fill it. it has Halo and Fable 2. thats it.
If the 360 wants me to buy it maybe they should get BETTER games and FREE ONLINE PLAY!!!!
Peace all of you.

Guys – I am planning to buy a gaming console and need your help in deciding it. To make this simple, let me put forth some questions and their answers will help me decide.
Your help is immensely appreciated.
XBOS 360 vs PS3
* Which has faster loading speed for games?
* Which one offers wireless controllers, such as throttle pad, gamepad, racing wheel controller etc and are relatively cheap? Preferably, PC compatible ALSO.
* I know XBOX hard drive is proprietary, is there a crack through which we can still use any SATA drive? Is it easy enough, without loosing any warrenties of the console/HDD.
* Offers more games and in future also, it seems would have an edge for offering more titles.
* I know XBOX 360 is not backward compatible, are there new versions of the old games to play with 360? What’s the scene with PS3 in this regard?
* (silly question) – can the blu ray PS3 play VCDs, DVDs also? Which all formats? DivX, AVI also?
* Who’s games are more easily available and has more titles to its credit and better prospects for the future?

Jeremy. You don’t own a PS3, otherwise you would know that they can also download anything (demos included strangely) whilst playing, hmmm any game at all. As for Gears of War 2 being better than anything on the PS3, that’s purely your opinion. Your entitled to it, & while your thinking your narrow minded thoughts, I’ll be playing Killzone 2, Motorstorm:Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, Uncharted, Gran Turismo 5P, & Little Big Planet whilst waiting for Fable II to eventually turn up on PC (see I don’t hate 360 games, I just know that most of the good stuff turns up on PC at some point). I’m sure Gears of War 2 will go PC at some point, but if it’s as completely broken as the first one on PC (yet again Microsoft got away with releasing something that didn’t work properly), I’ll give it a miss.

@ Varun: The game loading times on both the consoles are pretty much the same.
Various accessories are available for the PS3 and the 360. As per my knowledge, the price range for accessories is similar on both the consoles, except for the fact that MS charges you a hell lot of a money for just a hard drive. Check out an online store for more information on pricing.
The PS3 supports SATA and you can change the default hard disk with another one having a bigger capacity if you wish to gain some more space. The 360 won’t let you do so and you’ll have to buy another one from MS only if you wish to upgrade.
As far as games are concerned, both the consoles are getting great titles. Currently the PS3 has a great line-up including Killzone 2, InFamous and later on God Of War 3.
The PS3’s Blu-ray player can play all your Blu Ray’s, VCD’s, DVD’s and even AVI and DivX files.

I had the original xbox when it came out and sold it and bought an XBOX 360 in 2007. I love the game selection and graphics but the one thing that is really making me consider the unthinkable(switching from 360 to ps3) is the hardware failure aka-3 red rings of death. Just last weekend inba 2k9 froze up on me and when i rebooted the system, i got the infamous 3 red rings of death. This is the 2nd time within the last year that i’ve had this happen.
I play my xbox 360 maybe 8 hours a week at most. In january 2008 I got the infamous 3 red rings of death. Called up xbox support and mailed my xbox 360 in for repair. Luckily i had 2 months remaining on my warranty. Took about a month to get my 360 back. Now here it is March 2009 and now i have the same problem again!! My warranty is expired but however xbox apparently knows it’s a major issue on their systems so luckily they are covering the repair free of charge. So once again i will go without a gaming system for a month.
I’ve never owned a playstation before so i dont know much about it, but i know a few people who own ps3’s and have never had to send them in for repair.
Xbox 360 is an awesome system, when it works. Xbox support has been awesome too, but having to mail in the system once a year is getting old and if you’re not home when it arrives, then you gotta go drive to god knows where to some fedex ground facility which of course is never near where you live…Thanks xbox for the memories but when my 360 comes back, it;s going up for sale on ebay. Maybe when you make a more reliable system you will get me back but until then, i am a soon to be new owner of a ps3.

Russ,
I don’t think you’ll be dissapointed with a PS3. I know it doesn’t have cross game chat, but the latest Sony update has just put on cross game text chat, so I wouldn’t be suprised if cross game voice chat comes along at some point, & I’ve had no problems online with the likes of Motostorm:PR, & Killzone 2 (all I play online at the moment really).
You’ll find plenty of games out there, try Uncharted, & Heavenly Sword you’ll be able to pick them up cheap now. Even Lair is supposed to be okay now they’ve patched the controls, & you’ll only pay around £10 (UK) for any of the above. You will already know the big games to get.
Oh, & if you’ve got a fairly decent HDTV, remember to check the RGB & Super white settings as the old complaints about washed out colours are down to a simple setting & easily remedied (the default settings are for SDTV’s, or at least it was on mine). You’ll find more info on Google as it’s not really clear on the menu why or what you’re altering.
Enjoy. & if you have any questions, etc you can guess my PSN ID.

Their both pretty mutch the same in the war of games, size, and graphics what I’ve noticed is there are mor people playing xbox live because of the year long headstart on the shelve sthat the 360 had over the ps3 so there is a greater range in skill level.
I have a ps3 becauseci hear 360s crash a lot (and I just think the 360 physicaly looks hideous). Also I think the wii just blows both others out of the water because it has the most only wii games and the overall simpleness of the system. If you can get 2 I suggest the ps3 and wii. if your going to play a lot of online get the 360 if you plan to not only game but watch movies, surf the Internet and listen to music, the ps3. And if your here for the overall enjoyment get the wii

seriously if you’re looking to buy a ps3 or xbox 360 choose via the games not the specs. If you’re buying a ps3 for just the blu-ray don’t i saw a blu-ray dvd player for £130!! I have an xbox 360 because the games are ten pound cheaper and there are 100s of xbox exclusives and about 20 ps3
Kaden101
April 21st, 2009 at 11:42 am
Whilst I agree with Dan about choosing a console because of the games, there are a few points worth raising.
1. If you want a games console & a Blu-Ray player then PS3 is a good option.
2. PS3 games are the same price as 360 games, don’t know where you are looking, but I took a wander round Game recently as I keeping hearing about this supposed price difference, & couldn’t find it.
3. Look at Wikipedia, & you’ll find it lists 163 exlusives for 360 (that’s not 100’s), & 132 for PS3 (that’s nowhere near 20). these include the xbox online store, the PSN Store, & some upcoming titles.
There’s always ways to save money on games for both platforms, & if you are looking at pre-owned, then Blu-Ray is good as I haven’t found one with a single scratch on yet, the discs are more scratch resistant than DVD’s, & the PS3 doesn’t make coasters out of them, which is more than can be said about the 360.
Whilst the Wikipedia exclusive figures won’t be exact, they do indicate that your extremely biased towards your 360 & like to make stuff up.
Philburt99
April 22nd, 2009 at 2:42 pm
I agree with Kaden101. Also the Blu-Ray disks come in hi-def and has more space then the other disks. So all in all the ps3 games can hold more content (Maybe they can but i don’t know). Also i said this before FREE INTERNET!!!!!!! On the PS3 you can look at any site on the web. Can the XBOX360 do that? I don’t know i never played the 360 online. Answer me that question you 360 fans

PS3 IS THE FUTURE ACCEPT IT XBOX 360 IS THE PRESENT ACCEPT IT
April 25th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
YOU ALL NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT BOTH SYSTEMS ARE EQUAL AT THIS POINT IN TIME. FEEL FREE TO ARGUE BUT THE HONEST TRUTH IS THAT EVENTUALLY XBOX 360 IS GOING TO DECREASE IN USERS AND GAMES BECAUSE SONY TO THE BEST OF THERE ABILITY ARE IMPROVING THE OVERALL PS3 AND PSN EXPERIENCE. PS3 WITH ITS UPDATES IS ALMOST EQUAL TO XBOX 360. I LIKE MY PS3 BETTER THEN 360 AND USE IT MUCH MORE THEN MY 360. BUT ONE POINT I WOULD LIKE TO STATE IS THAT XBOX LIVE IS NOT CHARGED CAUSE IT HAS BETTER FEATURES. IT IS CHARGED FOR CAUSE MICROSOFT HAS ITS OWN SERVERS AND IF YOU CHECK YOUR PING ON XBOX LIVE IT WOULD BE 0. THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE XBOX LIVE WORTH PAYING FOR. I THINK PS3 IS THE FUTURE BUT THE 360 DOES STILL HAVE 1 ADVANTAGE LEFT. PS3 DID A GOOD JOB IN WHAT MICROSOFT TO FAILED TO DO AND THAT IS THE FIRST PS3′S THAT CAME OUT LIKE I HAVE A 60GB SOME STARTED TO GET THE YROD WHICH IS THE YELLOW RING OF DEATH BUT SONY RELEASED NEW PS3 WHICH GOT RID OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT COULD GET OUT OF HAND. AS FOR EXCLUSIVES PS3 NOW HAS GOD OF WAR 3, R2, KILLZONE 2, ETC. AND FOR THOSE WHO SAY ALL PS3 GAMES NOW COME OUT FOR PS3 WELL ITS THE SAMETHING IN 360′S CASE. FOR EX. LOOK AT SAINTS ROW 2, BIOSHOCK ETC. IN THE END FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO STAY WITH THE PRESENT AND ENJOY THE BENIFITS OF IT THEY ARE BYA LL MEANS ARE ALLOWED TO. FOR THOSE WHO WANT THE FUTURE MIGHT HAVE TO GO THROUGH SOME TROUBLES BUT WILL BE WORTH IT.

BioShock and Saints Row 2 are for the ps3 aswell as the 360. And to anwser JCW’s question the ps3 can not use the ps2 controllers. If you do own a ps3 and want a good stratagy, first-person shooter go for Godfather 2. I rented it and its a really fun game.

and another thing, If you get a new ps3 (one of the 80Gb or a 160Gb) you can’t play ps2 games on it. Unless the game is in HDD. Only 2 USB slots. Can Connect to the psp. Looks way better than the 360. and Fun to take apart.

Some people have good points, while others dump crap onto it
I have 2 xbox360s, and the only reason why is so that we can all play Halo 3 (which is overrated, but still fun) and 2 online accounts.
For all of you defending the Xbox 360… WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?!
Half of all the people defending the Xbox 360 is defending it sothat they can justify their reasonings for being ripped off.
Xbox 360 60 GB – $300
Wireless Adapter – $100
Rechargable packs – $20 per controller
Bluetooth – N/A
HD DVD/Blu Ray – $100 and N/A
Online – $60 a YEAR
Upgradable hard drive – N/A
Internet Browser – N/A
Transferring of Savedata or Profiles – N/A and Yes
and many other things here add up to $380, or $480
so that is compared to a Playstation 3 80 GB – 400

i did that before.
the 360 is thinking about coming out with a blu-ray player maybe.
also the 360 60gb, ill go higher with the ps3 80gb.
I also had my ps3 for around half a year and had 1 a problem with it yet.
The only problem was with a game that jams in it. Lord of the rings: Conquest. That game always jams on me during split screen games. the rest of the games i play are fun and very well made.

Nicely balanced article, it’s helped me toward making a decision. Whilst I do like the price point of the Xbox 360 and its huge game library, I don’t like paying a monthly fee for Xbox Live to be insulted by a load of pre-pubescent kids playing games way too old for them – it’s just not my idea of fun.
That being said, £299 for a base model PS3 bundle is ludicrous.

hey,
I am not much of a tecno wiz but i do no that xbox 360 is very um well its far less surperior than the ps3 there go ps3 is better if you want to keep it for a year without it overheating.
i own a ps3 and i play it lots about 20 hours a week
my ps3 is sitting under my 42″ l e d tv and is connected through a hdmi aswell as the sound hooked up to my surround sound system with 7.1 channel it sounds and looks incredible it took me 4 years to save up to buy this system.my younger brother has a xbox 360 with a 37″ lcd tv and i must say i really can’t tell a huge differance in the picture, i was very very very very annoyed when i sore this, and he only has rbg cabbles turns out i had it on 570i LOL for two weeks.
sozz about spelling:)
but any way i hooked up the xbox and there was practerly no differance so ps3 fanboys no differance with blue ray games i think but ps3 sounds WAY WAY WAY Better i dont why but it does. any way there is my verdict
ps3 all the way
PS3, XB360, made for different people

I personally like the PS3 better because of it’s interface, free online, and most of my friends have them. But I still respect the 360, and have a lot of fun playing it at friend’s houses. If you like Halo, go for a 360. If you’re more into Killzone, go get a PS3. If you want to play Blu-Ray movies, PS3. If all you want to play is games, 360. The list is endless. Whatever suits YOUR needs best is the best console for you and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

well it all depends on you, xbox is more for shooting games, ps3 partialy makes up for this by KILLZONE, and xbox is cheaper becuase it doesn’t waste space on aftermarket, online is 5$ per mounth and is easy and very fun to use. xbox has a more extensive game libray, while ps3 is lesser, and wii is the worst, WIFI doesn’t matter, corded works best. Gears of War 2 and Halo are the best games out their and coust only around 45$ each. as for the “red ring of death” don’t sweat, you have INFANINT warrenty, and they refund you xbox live if it does defect (and will still give you a free mounth even if you don’t have live) PS3, action adventure and racing are what they should stick to. lesser gameing libray, and is very expensive. it has a LOT of after market value that is useless. Who want’s to browse the internet on their console, and blueTooth? they have blue ray and have NO downloadable content for 3rd party games. (plus very little for licensed games!)
Wii= very little games
no DLC
no Major game titles
online sucks for games
for the most value go for ps3
for best games and proformance go for Xbox
for best novilty go for wii

2.December, 2005, Europe. The third world war, otherwise known as the console war that is spreading to Europe. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 takes over in Europe, slowly. It is hard to find opponents, but many boxes are dying a dangerous disease, RRoD ratio. Hope is lost, but then Microsoft will find a way to raise the dead to life boxes warranty service. 8 December, 2006, Europe. Nintendo has released in Europe Wii, which works well against the box.. The war continued for about a year. 23.October, 2007, Europe. Sony’s troops arrive in Europe. Sony succeeds well at the beginning, but suffers from some lost troops later ?.?.????. The date is not known, but Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have all suffered a great loss. Microsoft’s forces lost Masterchief. Nintendo has lost a large icon Super Mario, who sink in a pipe in combat. Sony lost Solid Snaken, who was already so old that he received a heart attack, and is the only one who everybody knowns and remembers. You can watch a small clip of the battle from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZJw9sbOTsc

I own A 360 and they are way better than the ps3 and wii trust me I own all of them. Online capabilities for the ps3 32 people together. Why cause sony Is to cheap ass to make their own servers. While Xbox 360 up to 64 player’s and they own all their game servers. And Hell Internet browser I guarantee they will get that soon. They already got project natal that is going to completely blow the Wii out of existence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2qlHoxPioM here is the link to the vid on youtube and they even have it on xbox.com http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/projectnatal/

Don’t talk rubbish, you can’t mod a 360 to play any playstation 1, 2, or 3 games, or Wii games, etc, etc, etc…Dipstick!

Resistance 2 has 60 players online at once, & MAG will have 256 players online at once. Get your facts right.

Blu-Ray discs in the UK are only a couple of pounds more than DVD’s, & nobody is forcing you to buy Blu-Ray, the PS3 does a pretty decent job of upscaling standard DVD’s. Also, the games are the exact same price as 360 games (in the UK) regardless of the fact they come on Blu-Ray.
gamer4life
You can never….ever….ever put the 360 in a reliability contest with the PS3, or an old Fiat, or…well, anything ever built by man in the world….ever. It lost before on that front before the PS3 even got to the contest.
It seems that 360 owners are now resorting to making stuff up. If you’re happy with your console of choice, why so defensive? After all, you’ve got Forza 3 & Alan Wake to look forward to, & if Alan Wake wasn’t coming to PC, & GT5 wasn’t coming to PS3 I might have had to consider buying a 360.
On second thoughts, I’m not sure I could bring myself to give over actual real money though – do you think they would accept used bin bags as payment? No? Oh well, I’ll live.

ok, lets just take the ps3’s blu ray player out of the picture, these systems werent made for movies they were made for gaming, i have both consoles and i have to say i have had trouble with the 360, but it has brought me much enjoyment with its games all while my ps3 collected dust, but as gaming is getting more competitive, the ps3 has caught my eye once more, with mgs4 , and just recently released infamous and killzone 2, the ps3 is starting to shine with its sony only exclusives, microsoft seems to have released all of there’s already, which makes me believe that right now a ps3 would be a good investment with all of its new upcoming games, but if your short on cash, the 360 is also a great console to experience

i’ve had it with all you people saying that the 360 is a **** box. I personally own one and can say it is not **** but some features i guess are ****…..
Like the fact that live costs (this is micro$oft remember…)
yes i know the xbox 360 has RRoD but that has been close to a dying rumour ever since the JASPER chip and the 3 year failure warranty….. If you have read rumours of scratched discs i am afraid to announce they are true but they only scratch over a period of time not instantly. by the time the disc is scratched you will be finished with the game anyway.
The 360 does multi task very well and with a ingame dash… but the Ps3 is (like arjun’s evaluation) a better choice for media.
The 360 has frozen on me regularily but has not given up yet……(the breakdown rate has reduced from a whoopin 33%! to a small 3% (not been confirmed) ).
As i say all this i wish to buy a Ps3 when the price drops lower and if you buy a xbox 360 buy halo 3 or halo 3 ODST.
(also SLUGboy and BRAT, stop being such fan boys……the consoles are evenly matched)
Hope you choose the console right for you (or both for that Matter =) )
Thanks for reading.

I am a hard core gamer and I have been since I was a kid. My first console was a Famicon (yes, I got the Japanese version from my dad in the Marines) and I played the crap outta that thing, and still do. Since then I have owned nearly every major console until the new generation (because I can’t shell out thousands at the drop of a hat).
As of now, I own the XBox 360. Despite the many issues I have had with it (including the Red Ring of Death, XBox GamerTag getting corrupt, and disc scratches) I will probably always stick with it.
First and foremost, I bought the XBox 360 when it first hit the shelves. My girlfriend is a Sony Fangirl, and was wanting a PS3, but they were taking too long to produce it. Who knows why it was delayed (at the time), all I knew is that I wanted to be part of the Next Gen Gaming folk. So I bought a 360 and slapped it on my shiny new 61″ TV.
From the minute I had the console plugged in I was hooked. The controller felt awesome, the look of the XBox was incredible, and the games were truely out of this world (Project Gotham was my first game, then Kameo). Then I discoverred this little thing called “Achivements” and from then on, the gaming changed my life.
Yeah, the XBox 360 has issues, but Microsoft compensates you greatly for the issues. When my XBox got the RRoD, they gave me 1 month free XBox Live, a new console (I checked the Man. Date and it was a month old), and Perfect Dark: Zero (at the time a 40 dollar game). I have been kicking it with that console since. Then when my GamerTag became corrupt, Microsoft compensated me with a Year of XBox Live Gold for free, as well as some credits for all my paid DLC. So in that aspect, they really helped me out.
I’m not going to bash on Sony or it’s hardware, because on Paper, it is superior. However, since they all have to be re-programmed to work with it, the PS3 isn’t up to even half of it’s standards. Back in the older days (with XBox and PS2), the PS2 games were ported to the XBox, in which then the XBox would suffer. But now the tables have turned and most multi-platform games are ported from the 360 to the PS3, which means that the PS3 is now sufferring (except for it’s exclusives). However the people I am going to bash on are the people who bash on the 360.
Look, it’s no secret that the 360 has issues. GamerTags, RRoD, Game Scratches… It all happens. But it seems thats all people can thing about when they hear about the XBox 360. I have learned a couple of tricks and had to modify my XBox’s surroundings to make it last, but it was all worth it. The PS3 is still new… something is bound to happen to it soon, and then you’ll have the same bull headed XBox Fanboys stick their tongues out at PS3.
So in my opinion (if anybody even cares), the XBox 360 is the creme of the crop for the gaming spectrum. So what it doesn’t have Blu-Ray… Think of it this way; if you have a TV/DVD combo, and the DVD goes out, then you are out of a TV. The same goes with PS3. Look at the PS2, having issues when using it as a DVD player, then it was having the issues with the Blue Back discs. Without a periphial, you’re going to have to replace the whole unit. Also, with the XBox 360, you can buy the parts that YOU need. If you don’t want Wi-Fi on your gaming console, then don’t buy it. If you don’t want a small hard drive; upgrade. Yeah, the PS3 has an upgradable hard drive system that allows you to use a Laptop Hard Drive, but those can be right as expensive as the Microsoft Hard Drives for the 360. Also, there is the Backwards Compatability issues. The XBox 360 works with MOST original XBox titles; most of them right out of the box. Also, the XBox Market Place offers many of the titles for about 10 – 15 bucks that you can save right on your hard drive. The 1st Gen 80 GB PS3 did that, but it was crappy emulation, so you were better off keeping your PS2 in it’s place. Lastly, if you are buying a PS3 for home entertainment purposes, then it is safe to assume that you have a decent HD TV and a Home Theater System. On that note, your Surround Sound system may be soon to going out (at least several years from now) and that there are many HTiB’s that come equipt with Blu-Ray (I just recently bought a Samsung Home Theater in a Box that was Blu-Ray capable). So now I have a gaming console that GAMES, a Blu-Ray HTiB for MOVIES, and my DirecTV for TV SHOWS. See, it all has it’s place…
So sorry if this seemed to ramble on, I am at work and trying to put my $.02 in the matter. I am just letting you guys know that it is a personal perspective on what you buy, but to be honest, the XBox 360 is definately the gaming console of choice for this gaming generation… unless you just want to have fun… then get a Wii

I have had a ps3 for about a year and a half now, and i have to admit, i have liked it. But i have CONSTANTLY had problems with the online with it. Whenever i get one problem fixed, another shows up, and its a never ending cycle of problems. Now, as much as i don’t like microsoft computers, as i am getting a mac, i am seriously considering buying a 360.
oh yea, i also have a wii, they guy who wrote this pretty much got it: good for casual gaming, but bad graphics and intense gaming.

To my opinion, the most logical choice is the PS3, ps3 exclusive games to my knowledge normally are not ported to the PC, while some of Xbox360 exclusives are ported to the PC, like Gears of War for example…Besides, 1st person shooting games are much better using a PC than any other console…
I’ll take PS3 and Wii home with me, much practical choice, plus we get a Blu-ray player built-in bonus…

If you have a Ps3 you should try Resistance fall of man. It is as good a game a call of duty or halo.
*Try resistance 1 before resistance two.
I personaly like 1 better bacause it has a better storyline and you can do Co-op campaign

I have a 360, I got the red rings about 2 weeks ago. By looking at this, the only reason I wouldn’t get a PS3 is for certain games and the price. All of my friends play 360. I bought a new Arcade, but I also sent my Pro in, so I’ll have two incase I get to red rings again. Go PS3 if you dont want xbox exclusive games.

PS3 is the best in all ways except graphics. Infamous is one of the best games in the world. I have a Wii but the family doesnt like anything except Wii sports and on that I have GH 3 and Brawl. The wii doesnt have too many features and this is why i am getting a PS3.

Component cables give an anolog HD signal while HDMI cables gives a digital HD signal.

Before you read note this: I have friends playing both systems, if you have no friends playing the console I say is better, get the other one.
At first, I bought both systems the day they came out. I played with the ps3 more, because of the wireless connectivity. Then I got an ethernet cable, and started playing 360. In fact, I got so hooked on the 360, I sold my PS3.
After about a year or so of playing, I realized something. The only really good exclusive to 360 is Gears. (Halo is incredibly over-rated). Then I saw how the PS3 had a lot of great exclusives, but also had some of my favorite games (Cod, BF, GTA, etc). So like any idiot who throws his money around, I sold my 360, and reserved the PS3 slim. You should only get 360 if you’re obsessed with halo, which would mean you’re seven years old. I say go PS3 (my only complaint is that on both systems, about the same amount of people play online, however, since the PS3 doesnt come with a mic, it gets frustrating)

wii is for the little children and the elderly, the graphics suck as well as the online capabilities. 360 and ps3 is an even match, i give the edge to the 360 because of its online mode and exclusive games like fable, halo and gears of war to name a few. 360 has a reliabilty issue but microsoft will fix for free also they say the red ring of death can be avoided if u lay the console horizontally. you cant go wrong with either 360 or ps3 i perfer the 360 (simply my opinion) avoid the wii

get a 360 rrod not a issue anymore, 360 has killer exclusives (halo is the most popular game of all time admit it haters) amazing online play and ive searched many times online and all professional raters have given the graphics edge to the 360. its affordable as well you simply cant go wrong with it. i LOVE mine.

@ Birthday Girl: If you ask me, then I would suggest you to go with the PS3. The new PS3 Slim is out now and comes with a great $300 price tag. Plus the PS3 has some great exclusives and gets all the latest titles. Further you get free online play.
My recommendation is the PS3. But if you like the 360, then get it. It’s totally your choice.

I currently have a Wii and have been a big N fan since 89. I love the controls on the Wii and can’t stand the analog sticks the Xbox, PS3. Wii needs to tend to the needs of hardcore gamers. Unlike Xbox, you dont need to pay to play online. PS3 offers free online gaming as well.
In my opinion, Xbox tricks customers into buying consoles. If you get the basic console, you dont get the hard drive, or headset. You basically have to upgrade eventually.
Although I dont have a PS3, I will soon. Free online play and great graphics all in one.. without the trickery. But Not the remote control of the Wii.. which in my opinion is great for 1st person games.
As far as price is concerned, Wii is the lowest priced console ($199) with great customer service and repairs arent as frequent as with the Xbox. PS3 ($299) and Xbox… enter the trickery, you have 3 different prices.. not to mention that it doesnt come WiFi ready, you actually have to buy an adapter ($99)

i live in the bahamas by the way and i went to the U.S. and bought a 360 for 400 bucks and in about 4 wks it went dead when i contacted microsoft about my problem, they couldn’t help me cause i didnt live in the U.S. so i took it to a local harware store to get it fixed for like 300 bucks and the game died after two weeks. Months later i thought they had resolved the problem and bought a new xbox this time in the bahamas which caused me like 600 bucks and the game died in about 3 months. Then i went ahead and bought a elite which i still have and is still working for almost a year. i didnt had a problem with buying the 360 over and over again cause its a good game my problem is that xbox couldnt help me and i just think that it sucks. the next thing that i dont like about the 360 is the xbox live feature. i to purchased like 1000 points and tried to download some of the cool stuff but i get a “not available in your area ” message so i m still resticted to some of the live features and i think that its bogus. Why sell me a dream? Im going back to nintendo and playstation. and the moral to this story is dont buy a 360 if you live outside the U.S. Im traveling to the U.S. in a few weeks november 23 to be exact so PS3 here i come.

Hey everyone, i have all of the systems, ps3, xbox 360, and wii. To be honest, i am a very hardcore gamer. The ps3 has less than 10% of the popular titles that the xbox 360 does. whats the point in owning a console that doesnt have favored games. Ya, the ps3 has GREAT movie graphics! But if your wanting to watch movies, why buy a $400 system when you could get a DVD player with the same graphics for $150 on Amazon. The xbox 360 does have very high failure rates, but its been compensated by microsoft. They raised the warranty to 3 years, sending it in to them is quick and easy, takes less than a week from the time you send it in to get it back, also they usually will just give you a brand new 360! The wii cannot even compare to the other 2 systems, the games are fun, but the graphics are the same as the gamecube. The ps3 is one of the hardest pieces of technology to use. The main menu is a complex infrastructure of random buttons leading to other random buttons and it looks more like a crossword puzzle than a menu. The xbox on the contrary is easy to use and the menu is all self-explanatory. The live on the xbox beats the ps3’s live hands down, sure it costs $7 dollars a month. But you get to play with over 14 million other gamers, get content downloads for games, can watch netflix for free, can join live parties which enables you to chat with gamers from all over the world, can download original xbox games at a very cheap price, can customize your gamertag to fit your style and so much more. The ps3 store is hard to use and commonly has problems with downloads. Also the xbox has minimal updates and when it does it combines them all into a big package so it is all done at once. The ps3 has so many updates that when you turn it on to play a game, you usually have to wait 30 minutes at a time before you can do anything. The xbox can save songs onto it and can access them at any time in any situation. The ps3 requires exiting to the main screen in order to do so. The ps3’s live is cheap… for reason previously stated. You cant even talk with other players on it. The xbox can even be hooked up to an external memory drive and movies can be watched from ipods and mass storage drives in one click, no download needed. I have had both since the days they came out, hands down the 360 wins in every category. Looking to buy a console? I can guarantee you will love the Xbox360. Also, the ps3 is big and bulky and overheats very quickly. the xbox can be left on for days on end (tested by me) and run just fine. The controllers for the 360 fit much better with your hand than the ps3 ones. The ps3 really isn’t worth your money, this coming from someone who owns all three of the major consoles. Buy the 360, it is a much better investment and has 100’s on famous titles pouring onto the shelves. The ps3 has only 10 famous titles and 2 of those failed to meet standards (lair) (heavenly sword). On the last subject, the xbox has a wide variety of games from RPG’s (fable 2, oblivion, Sacred 2, Blue Dragon, infinite undiscovery and the list goes on) FPS’s (Bioshock, Halo 3, gears of war 1 and 2, Ghost recon advanced war fighter 2, rainbow six vegas 2) Even MMO’s! (FInal fantasy 11 online, Phantasy Star Universe) The 360 even offers arcade games and thousands of games made by independent developers such as pac-man, marble blast ultra, tanks, and feeding frenzy, not to mention an all time favorite, worms 1 and 2. All in all, coming from an experienced gamer, i would say the xbox360 beats the ps3 hands down.
Thanks!

“Being a video game developer (I develop for both, Playstation 3 and XBOX 360) people ask me almost daily which platform I think is better. These are my personal feelings, in no way does this reflect my employer.
Short answer: XBOX 360.
Long answer: Price, performance
, visual quality, game selection and online support. I think the XBOX 360 wins in every category.
Price: This is obvious; the XBOX 360 core is only $299. The PS3 is around $499 for the 20GB version. It comes with a hard drive, but you don?t need a hard drive to enjoy a lot of great games on the 360 so I think it?s fair to compare both core systems.
Performance: On paper, the PS3 is more powerful. In reality, it?s quite inferior to the 360. Without getting into too many details, the three general-purpose CPU?s the xbox360 has are currently FAR easier to take advantage of than the SPU?s on the PS3. I suspect a few years down the road some high budget, first party PS3 exclusive titles will come out that really take advantage of the SPU?s and do things the XBOX 360 can?t, but I don?t think the console is worth buying based on this speculation (for some it will be though, we’ll have to wait and see how these games turn out).
Graphics: The XBOX 360 is a clear winner. The GPU is more powerful. It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower. Part of the reason is their choice of memory, and architecture of pixel and vertex procesing. I can?t get into details but the same vertex shader will run much slower on the PS3 than the XBOX 360. The 360 also has a clever new way rendering high definition anti aliased back buffers. To accomplish the same effect on PS3 is prohibitively expensive. For this reason I think many games will have no choice but to run in non-HD resolutions on the PS3 version, use a lower quality anti aliasing technique, or do back buffer upscaling. The end result in all cases is going to be noticeably worse image quality.
Game Selection: The XBOX 360 has a huge head start here. 1 year is an eternity in gaming. Almost all multi-platform developers have made the XBOX 360 their primary platform due to timing of release-to-market, this means the games will look and perform better on the 360. The PS3 versions will be ports of the 360 versions. (The opposite was true for XBOX 1 vs. PS2). The XBOX 360 is also far faster to develop for due to better development tools (massively popular Visual Studio .NET vs. proprietary, buggy PS3 compiler and debugger), better documentation, and easier architecture (3 general purpose CPU?s vs. 8 specialized processors that require DMA). Timing has also caused all next-gen middleware developers to make XBOX 360 their primary platform, and they will ?add ps3 support? as needed. This support will probably be inferior to the XBOX 360?s due to manpower and more importantly, demand. It?s this catch-22 now that will continue to drive the 360 forward and hold PS3 back.
The other obvious point here is that right now the Xbox360 already has a very impressive line-up of titles on store shelves; the ps3 just launched, and has virtually nothing of interest. Also, many 360 games are already discounted. PS3 games are all full price since it just launched.
Live: Microsoft?s online support with XBOX1 was phenomenal. They built in-house experience, user base, facilities, $$ commitment from executive level (since it proved successful), and most importantly, feedback from 100,000s of XBOX Live subscribers. Playstation 2?s online support sucked. They are now playing catch-up, trying to emulate Xbox?s model. But they had their hands tied just trying to make the PS3 work, it was incredibly ambitious (blu-ray etc.). I haven?t seen it yet, but I seriously doubt the quality will be anywhere to the level of XBOX 360.
HD Content: The PS3 comes with one built in (blu-ray). The XBOX 360 offers HD-DVD as an add-on for $200. You probably don?t care about HD-DVD right now. But you will soon (The quality between DVD and HD is comparable to VHS vs DVD, if you have the right TV) so I suggest paying attention to the war that?s begun. There are two formats: HD-DVD and BLU-RAY. Basically if you rent a BLU-RAY DVD from Bockbuster, it won?t play in your XBOX 360 HD-DVD, and vice versa with the PS3. The implications of this format war would require another article on its own. But as far as the consoles are concerned, the XBOX 360 wins because the DVD player is a separate unit. Playing movies is very taxing on the DVD reader, and let?s face it. In 3 years when your PS3 DVD drive goes out due to playing lots of movies (PS2 was notoriously bad about this) you will have to go buy another PS3. With the 360, you?ll just chuck your HD-DVD player, and go buy another one at the store. In 3 years standalone units wlil probably only cost about $99-150. Another point for the XBOX 360, is that I don?t know who will win the format-war, so I would rather wait with purchase of a HD player. The PS3 doesn?t give you this option.” “taken from the site http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-348-1.htm, these are not my words or facts.” I agree with all of this, Xbox hands down!!!

i have own an xbox 360 and i played halo and gears of war a few of the best games ever they are pretty awesome and the 360 is a great multimedia system.but i had been doin some research on the sony playstation 3 and i begining to like the console.i used to be one of the 360 fanatics who would critize the playstation 3 and say horrilbe graphics an now since i bought my ps3 i have been thinking they both have about the same visuals and games .but i sold my 360 since i belived having both consoles was a wasted of money .the ps3 has bluray with great picture and sound compared tot the dvd format of the 360 so i went and bought another ps3 for my father since he is poor .but now the playstation has dropped in sells to buy .the ps3 internet acess is free instead of payin 30 bucks a month for xbox live .if i was you i would buy a ps3.and if u want to buy 360 go ahead but think you have friends who have a 360 with the games u wnat to play that r soley on there for u 2 play if u miss the 360 so buy a ps3 it will not let you down

OK, Well here is my opinion (like any one cares) but seriously i have good facts to share. i have had the xbox 360 for some good time now (~2~ years about). in total i had 5 failures, i wasn’t to pleased because you had to pay for online service which inst at so much at a bad price but id rather be paying squat for my online service. But when the console worked like you wanted it to then you had no problem and it seems like the best console ever…….but around the 4th breakdown the Sony ps3 had arrived is stores. i was a little skeptical at first because i had gotten the xbox like the second week it was out and that was my mistake. there was no real test for the endurance of the xbox 360 (so Ive read), i had looked up the ps3 and it quotes that the ps3 has went through 50 stress tests like what should of happened with the xbox…
i was soon sold on the ps3, and it worked great, it was so quiet i thought the fan was broken at first but nope it was proper Japanese ingenuity! and what do you know the next day i played my xbox it crash yet a 5th time and i told Microsoft that i quit i want nothing more to do with them. even the xbox and i had great times me and my xbox had, it was out time to separate so i GAVE it to game stop, its some one else problem now, no i have a supper advanced system than hasn’t failed yet for a now on going 2.5 years and no problems. thank you Sony for you breakthrough and thanks for not screwing up like Microsoft did i appreciate it.
Also you get the latest in software on the ps3 like blu-ray (people who don’t care for blu-ray cant afford it). you also get blue tooth headset and controllers that can last a life time with out you changing the batteries because you don’t need to it only takes 2 hours to charge for like 15 hours of complete wireless play.

Thanks for the info, this is an excellent write up. I’ve been looking for some straightforward help in deciding which console to buy and here it is.
After reading this I’ve decided to go with a PS3. It seems that what the xbox has going for it over the PS3 is better online gaming options, and perhaps a larger library of games. I’m not a huge fan on online gaming (mostly because I can’t compete with the gamers who have logged hundreds of hours playing). And most of the best games are on both systems anyway, with a few exceptions.
I regard the xbox360 as more of a hard-core gamers console whereas the PS3 as a multifunction entertainment system, with it’s blu-ray and wifi capabilities out of the box. Not to mention Netflix streaming now.
My only trepidation goes back to the fact that it seems like there are way more xbox 360 games available. I also often see more used games for sale vs ps3 games. At games being 60 bucks a pop nowadays I usually try to get them used. I could care less about getting a game the day it comes out. So I think the PS3 looses some points for that. But then again, it becomes a question of quality vs quantity. Plus, I still have lots of great PS2 games in my collection and there are tons of used PS2 games that I havent played yet out there.
P.S. I have a Wii and have been a little disapointed with the lack of more mature titles available for it. Granted, I purchased it knowing it was a family gaming system. I really got it more for my wife than for me. What I wasn’t expecting though was the…lackluster graphics. Dont get me wrong, the graphics are decent but nowhere near the other two. We all know graphics dont make a game, but they certaintly dont hurt it either. Anyway, I’ve been feeling left out playing my Mario Kart and what not while missing out on some grand theft auto action so I’m finally going to spring for a PS3.
p.s.s. Are there any good RPGs on the PS3?

Wii is for casual gamers but it is ok. XBOX360 and PS3, I reccomend because Wii has terrible graphics compared to the visuals of the 360 and PS3. 360 and PS3 have GTA IV, Devil May Cry 4, etc. Wii is good for kids but XBOX360 may just catch a child’s attention.

I have just read this entire web page, including everybody’s responses. I have the Wii now and I’d like to become more of a gamer, I went through PSx, PS2, PSP, and all throughout that I’ve had my computer. I was thinking about purchasing a 360 lately, especially since all of my friends have that and they have most of the titles I like, I’d probably play with them online(I’m not crazy about Halo). However, online for the Xbox can be quite costly, and since I’m only a fifteen year old student without a job, I don’t have the kind of money to spend every single month. PS3 on the other hand provides free online play, I’ve always purchased the Playstation systems, so now I am unsure of which to buy, any advice on why I should buy one over the other? And please don’t use RROD, I can survive a month without an Xbox if needed, I was a hardcore computer gamer before.
Thanks in advance.

This is to Blake and Grant- First to Blake- What you said about PS3 having about 10% of the XBox’s POPULAR titles is complete BS. First off, FPSs. If u have not heard, nearly every single FPS that is out there that Xbox has, ps3, has, with exception of Halo3, which completely sucks balls. To Grant- I’m sure that the price of Hd-dvds will go down, but does that mean that blu-ray wont? And if i am correct, 99% of media companies now support the blu-ray format as their High def. format and stopped using hd-dvds. Now i may be wrong, but im pretty sure it said that in the news about them having a large competition, and HD lost. In addition to this, in the long run, the xbox can double or even triple the price of the Ps3. With you having to pay 50 bucks for online annually, and u having to buy numerous amounts of accessories for the xbox, the price just escalates very quickly. Oh yeah, btw, where the hell did u gets ur facts about PS3 20 GB version costing 499? i think you meant to say the 160 GB version plus Two games combo package is 499. I say this but if u have a shitload of chips to spend, or if you play your console more than What??……..Three hours a day???……then go with the Xbox 360. For now im still using my PS2, running for seven years straight!!!!!!!

lol ya ive been researching both consoless and it seems aven if u r 60 or 65 percent gamer the ps3 is better because its the same price now as the 360 299 plus blue ray player and free wifi and more and more games are coming out for the ps3 soon enough there will be just as much games as the 360. i have wii and ps2.

wow people who cares about which counsoles are better if you like playing with your friends online and they have a ps3 go with it if they have a xbox 360 go with the 360. who cares pluse ones you pay for all the stuff on the xbox like the wireless adapter ect… it will cost the same as the ps3. i realy dont need wireless for any of them because they both are next to my router.
If you like online gameing without your friends go with what your hart tells you not what everyone says is better or is worse.
all my friends told me the ps2 sucked but i got one anyways yet it outsold the old xbox not the 360.
I own both xbox 360 and PS# I see no difference between them. The only difference is Online (XBOX 360) now and
BLU- RAY (PS3) thats about it.
PS. Graphics MANYLY DEPEND ON THE TV……

i own both a ps3 and a wii and i should start off by telling you guys that the ps3 is way better than wii in both graphics, games, online, and the ps3 plays movies in blu-ray which i think is pretty cool. For 200 bucks you can get a wii with a cheap game but if you are looking for hi expierenced graphics and games definitly get the ps3. it now only costs 300 bucks so for 100 more dollars you can get lots of better stuff.
when it comes down to the ps3 and the xbox 360 its kind of a draw I mean, the xbox 360 has better graphics and all but the ps3 has free online so you dont have to pay for it!IF your the person who loves to play online then i suggest that you get a ps3 because its free but for the xbox 360 for one month its 7.99, 3 months its 19.99 and for 12 months its 49.99 so i think i would go for a ps3.
Hope this helped!

@Damaris, I agree with you. 360 is nice, but after a year, it falls apart like the Rubiks’ 5×5x5 (V-cube 5 or Professor’s cube) when trying to speed-cube it. I had it before a chip problem, then overheating (also did the towel trick), then RROD, then I gave up, sold it for 500 bucks, (that’s how much I got it for, by the time I got irritated, it was 400$, but some people just don’t look at prices, do they?
) I stuck with the Wii the family bought, it is very reasonable, 3% failure rate is extremely low (as opposed to 70%, and no, I’m not flaming the 360, it just falls apart) and then PS3 slim came out, bought that, been rockin’ it since then
(Wii too.)

Why are you guys even comparing the PS3 or 360 to a Wii. The Wii is not a hardcore gaming system. Its a casual gaming system and was not designed to have amazing graphics or gaming power. And by the way, both systems are great (PS3/360). I have both systems and yea I’ll admit I personally prefer my PS3 but I spend almost as much time on my 360 as I do on my PS3. The PS3 is the better all around system but I like the 360’s online features, even if you have to pay for them. I’ve never had a problem with my PS3 in the year and a half that I’ve had it. I haven’t had my 360 that long, but I know my friend has that same one and after only 6 months his system wouldn’t read his games. So for the money you spend and for what you get, the PS3 is definitely worth your money. And any of the rumors you may have heard about the PS3 slim having problems, their not true. They did not make the fan smaller. They actually INCREASED the size. And another thing to think about. Sony has been making game systems for how long now? Microsoft? The PS2 had already sold 138 million systems leading up to 2009. Add another year of sales to that. Their still releasing games for it. They wouldn’t be doing that if it wasn’t selling. Also, Sony keeps getting more and more exclusives, and if you compare a PS3 exclusive to a 360 exclusive, you can tell that there was a lot more time and effort put into the PS3 game.
Anyways, not trying to create conflict, just making a point. I do have both systems so I am not bashing the other system because I don’t have one. The 360’s fail rate is 33% which means that one out of 3 consoles sold, fail. The PS3 and Wii are both below 1%.
It doesn’t matter to me which you get but in my opinion the PS3 is where its at.

my ps3 is the best thing ive ever bought, ive played 360 alot at all of my friends houses. People say the online play is soo much better, but there is really no difference, and then if there isnt a difference why would u pay for xbox live. people also say that ps3 costs too much, but if u want online, after a while you payed more for xbox than ps3

WAH WAH WAH …. Stop all of your crying. I have both PS3 and Xbox 360. Oooooh… Greater power and More Memory. Xbox 360 came out over 2 years (2 years of games and fun) b4 PS3 and its much easier to program for. Gran Tourismo 5 anyone? What’s it going to be 10 years? If you don’t have he games… who gives a crap how powerful a system is. All my friends lists are on Xbox 360 already as well. I guess Blu Ray, GT5 and MLB 08, 09 and 10 oh and Uncharted perhaps are the only reason mine doesn’t just collect dust. (add the Logitech G27 wheel thats compatible with PC and PS3) Well there is the Fanatec wheel for xbox 360 now…. but I digress
Stop quoting the Damn tech specs. Microsoft uses the shittiest/cheapest motherboards but, its set up like to be programmed like a PC… Which is how people learned for the last 50 Years!!! When a game takes 10 years to come out for PS3… it BETTER BE DAMN GOOD!!! (if its not obsolete by then) Just make a game for the PC or Xbox 360 and port it. Should I wait for Xbox 720 or PS4 before a game comes out? Then all you people will talk about is RAMDAC speeds and DDR912 memory. Just give me quick and better games!!!!!! (I don’t care if you crap in my hand and call it a Console! If it has well made and a large quantity of games I dont care if my system is powered by a WOMBAT running on a treadmill!!!!! STOP THE TECH CRAP SPECS AND GIVE ME BETTER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!

Buy 360 if you’re a stupid fratboy who wants to play Halo all day. Maybe some FPS’ will be exclusive to the 360 console, but they will also be available for PC, which is much better for FPS’ anyway.

I really like the xbox 360 more than the other two because it has much better games. Both the xbox and ps3 have good graphics but the wii’s graphics are terrible compared to the other’s. I bought a wii and the only good use for it is to play wii sports and wii sports resort because they are really the only good games.

go playstation and you won’t be disappointed

Hey people I’m GeminiEdgeZ47. I’m 12 and I am a gamer. I own a Wii, DS( the screen flops), Gamecube, and a PSP. I am mostly a Nintendo gamer but lately on the Wii the only games they have been coming out with are Mario and Sonic games. I have been wondering if I should get a PS3 slim or keep my Wii. To get the PS3 I need to sell my Wii for the money. I have 8 wii games and about 6 downloaded games plus some controlers and stuff. I hate the Xbox 360 with all of my heart(Microsoft did a good job with the zune but made crap for their video game consoles). There are some good games on PS3 like Modern Warfare, LittleBigPlanet, and Street Fighter 4. My dad also has a Blu- Ray player in the living room but I want one for my home theater system in my room. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it. Also do you know if you can hook up a keyboard and watch youtube on PS3. Thanks

I own both PS3 and Xbox 360. I love them both, but I do have to say that When it comes for Multiplatform games, I buy them for Xbox 360. The grafics are sharper and claener. I only use my PS3 for PS3 exclusives and Blue-Ray movies. But as I said I do love them both but the nod for gaming goes to Xbox 360, the nod for media play goes to PS3

@ GeminiEdgeZ47: If you feel that you are bored of Wii now, then you can get a PS3. You can watch YouTube on the PS3 and also hook up a keyboard. Plus, with the great exclusives available, you won’t be dissatisfied.

i would have say personal that the ps3 is better because i am a all out gamer and i like to do everything with it. i have recently owned the 360 but is old it because of the great makes of the ps3. i have and still own a wii it was fun to play with my family at one point of time but now it sits and gather dust because of the ps3. i would have to say the ps3’s online gaming is great although i never tried it on the xbox 360 because i never wanted to purchase the wifi adapter.

Before I say anything; opinions, irrelevant tech specs and rampant fanboyism are all well and good, but don’t expect an honest, unbiased opinion from your average “hardcore (haha) gamer”.
I have played the 360 only twice, Halo 3 and CoD4. I don’t get why everyone loves Halo so much but I digress. I thought it was alright but nothing that “wow”ed me, kind of like how I felt with the original Xbox. Yes the 360 does have more FPS and RPGs (a very neglected genre on the PS3), but I find that the PS3 is more well-rounded in terms of both game selection and functionality, of course that’s only important if you’re only playing games.
As far as graphics go, as others have said the PS3 is capable of more, but often shows less due to develops acclimating to working on something much less familiar than what they’re used to with MS. I have a 13″ SDTV so this is a moot point in my case.
In terms of online, personally I’d go with PS3. 360’s online isn’t bad at all, in fact it’s quite good, but the userbase is comprised mainly of 14 years old craterfaces who call each other niggers and faggots, though admittedly you’ll find that just about anywhere where’s there’s internet and tweens in the same room.
I was going through this very same debate in my head when I was deciding on what I’d like to get and ended up with a PS3, but that’s because it suited my needs for streaming music to the PS3 from my PC and not having to pay 7 dollars a month for something I already pay Comcast 140 for.
A small sidenote on multi-platform games: the 360 versions typically look better, but as developers are starting to acclimate to how to program efficiently for the PS3, on top of PS3 ports usually coming with some bonus content, I don’t see this as much of a selling point unless you’re 11 and are easily enticed by shiny, pretty lights.
BUT, most of all, it is quality and not quanity that counts. As far as that goes, what kind of games you’re into should have more bearing on your decision than what console looks prettier or is more “hardcore”.
As far as Wii…ugh I can’t stand that controller, that’s all I really remember about it. Great for kids and drunken party activities, though.
PS: All you “hardcore” fanboys should really shut up. Not only do you make your generation look VERY dim and generally pathetic, but stating opinions as fact is just about as stupid as arguing with console is superior. (hint: they all lose, PCs are always at least 2-3 years ahead in terms of hardware)

I don’t own either console but, I have to say that the PS3 is a better choice depending on your lifestyle. For example, The PS3 has dual channel RAM, compared to the single stick of the Xbox 360. That means that the PS3 can run faster because of low data bottle neck. So, that would allow you to do things, like Netflix streaming and surfing the web, a lot faster. But the Xbox does have “better” games. Like, in my opinion, the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 is a little less intuitive than the Xbox version. But, Exclusive PS3 games are very good, I think they are better than the Xbox’s exclusives. I think that has to do with coding though. The PS3 controller is very comfortable to hold and is easier to use than the Xbox controller for the most part, as it is better constructed and has been refined over a very, very long time.
In terms of media, the PS3 is, to be honest, the best choice. It has Blu-ray, Music, Netflix, MP4 video, Web Browser w/ flash, and now it is going to be getting an XML reader. The Xbox really can’t compare to this, and because of PS3’s dual channel RAM, the Xbox 360 wouldn’t be able to do it as good either. The Playstation store is amazing too and since the release of the PSP Go, things are being added EVERY day. The Xbox only does O.K. with their marketplace.
Also, the PS3 has bluetooth which is truly the next Technology. Using a bluetooth keyboard and a DualShock 3 or Sixaxis controller, you can browse the Web from around 30 feet away with no lag. You can also use any headset with the PS3, compared to the Xbox 360 which only uses Microsoft’s headset (which really isn’t that good).
If you have kids, the PS3 is also a better option. Only 14% of Xbox games are E rated, 67% are M rated. On the PS3, 26% are E rated and 39% are M rated. Also, some E rated games for the PS3 are really good, like little big planet. While the Xbox really only has Hasbro fun night and other not-so-well-done games.
For the most part, I have to say that the Playstation 3 is probably the best choice for most people. But, if you live in front of your TV (figurative language, not trying to insult bedbounds), Then you might find the Xbox 360 to be a better option. To be honest though, Both console are great and whichever one you get you will enjoy it.

Well, I’m gonna have to agree with Nightlife N8 in saying that multi-platform games do look better on the Xbox 360 most of the time. This is because there have been more 360 consoles sold and they know that their going to sell more games for the 360. This is why Sony is getting very frustrated with all of these game companies. They have developed Bluray which allows these companies to expand what they can do with a game, and for the most part, their not taking the opportunity to do so.
But if anyone has been watching the market, PS3 sales are almost caught up with the Xbox 360! Thats a MAJOR accomplishment for Sony. The 360 had a year of sales before the PS3 came out, so if that helps anyone choose which console to buy, then I’m glad to help

Had a PS3 for 2 years and used it mainly to play a few Blurays. It is now sold on.
If you can’t be bothered giving up a huge chunk of your life to learn the intricacies of each game and just want to watch movies and have a bit of fun occasionally, then buy a Blueray player (benefit from the 1080p output) and a Wii.
If you want to have a good time with the family then Mario is more appropriate that Grand Theft Auto et al – and the multiplayer slant on the Wii won’t turn you into a social recluse growing ever paler in your darkened bedroom.
Just depends what you want.

@ Human: It’s not necessary to have a flatscreen. Your PS3 will work fine with a standard display but it’s just that the games will look much better on an HD screen.

After reading all of these comments, I feel a bit disturbed. I have owned my 360 since its launch (thanks, granddad), but now i feel as though i should get a PS3. I am EXTREMELY cheap, and free online play is starting to sound really tasty at the moment. My mom just got laid off from WaMu, which is more reason for me to convert consoles. Then again, ill be off to college in 2 years, so i dont know what to do…

Well I like both system. But in my opinion I fell way more comfortable with the PS3. Yes it was more expensive but when you look at it, its worth the money. Also why doesn’t the 360 have web browsing. I mean who help make the internet Microsoft. But this is interesting I like it. But I mean all system is the same except for the Wii which I think is not very good for gamers like us out there. But still PS3 and 360 are just the same its just up to the “PLAYER!”

I own all of the consoles. I bought my own 360 and PS3 my dad bought me a wii, but I never play it. I have about 13 real life friends that I play on the 360 with and only about 5 on the PS3. I play the 360 way more, but…..I really do like the PS3 WAY MORE than the 360. I always have more fun on the PS3. On the 360 my friends and I always run into 1 asshole who is just ignorant. There are also a lot more black people XP. (Maybe because its cheeper….idk…. I prefer the PS3 over the 360. I always have a good time on the PS3.
On the 360 I may be able to play music while playing games. But when I am on the PS3 i usually just plug my Zune into my stereo system and play it through that its the same thing. The 360 may have a better online for now but PS3 is catching up fast. Soon the 360 will be nothing but ignorant assholes. Alos the new 360 thats coming out looks pretty sexy…..still recomend the PS3 over it though.

way its looking to me is 360 takes the cake. kinect and the new xbox(wifi 250g hard drive and only 300 Canadian)is my opinion beats the competition. ps3 dose have blue ray, exclusive games, free online and 3d gaming. but there motion control move is a total copy cat of wii. the exclusives aren’t that good and i don’t see many ppl who have a console, online and no computer. so that leaves free online, blue ray and 3d gaming. blue ray and 3d gaming are both for ppl with money. free online but the ps3 is expensive and so are the movies it plays. and you need a 3d tv to get the best out of it. dose that make sense to you? it don’t to me. kinect if dose whats promised will be way better then wii and ps3’s move. and if you already have an xbox its cheaper then wii. for the same price as a ps3 you will be able to have an xbox and kinect. it really comes down to free online or 3d gaming and exclusives. if you want that get a ps3. other than that get an xbox. i don’t recommend the wii.

first, i like this article. one of the better console comparisons i’ve seen on the net.
next, i plan to buy a wii for the family and later on a ps3 (or a 360 if i am later convinced) for myself.. although, now that i have the money, i feel like getting the ps3 first.
anyway, i’ll probably still get the wii for now. as for the other console i would get, i am leaning towards the ps3 although i’d still really want to weigh which will be worth my money (ps3 v 360).

i think all these ps3 owners come looking to find justice for buying their systems. i love my xbox 360 i dont have a problem with it. i’ve had it for over a year and have never seen this RROD. and as for price, the only thing i’ve ever had to buy is the xbox 360 itself, the games and LIVE, and if you complain about have to pay a very small fee to play online then take a moment to realize how much you paid for you system anyway. i’m not here to talk bad about the PS3, i never owned one, but all these die hard fanatic’s just need to get a life. i enjoy my xbox and have never had a problem with it.

I got a xbox 360 exactly 1 month ago now and the xbox 360 is perfect for me. Why? Because im a hardcore gamer who LOVES fps games such as halo, call of duty, gears of war etc. The reason why the xbox 360 is better for shooter games is because it has better controls for fps games than the ps3 and the wii. It also has A LOT more fps games than the ps3 and the wii, while the wii is a perfect console for family type games and the ps3 is perfect for all around games such as sports, racing, puzzle games etc. But the ps3 yet again maybe good for all around type games but not so much for fps games. But the xbox 360 doesnt just have fps games it has lots of all around games like i just said about the ps3 but it clearly has more fps games than the ps3 and the controls are best on the xbox 360 for fps games .Which is why the xbox 360 is better for me.

Ok well readin all these reports is so borin i got half way and i’m ganna share my opinion.
PS3 is my console cuz of th graphics plus u dont have to buy all tht other crap…Sony put th PS3 as an all in one and it turns ur tv into a comp cuz it is a comp i just cant play comp games lol.
yes the 360 is great cuz of th online but i dont kno about other but i aint payin for a service tht i could get for free. th 360 u have to buy everythin seperate and if u add everythin up ur payin more for th 360 than th PS3.
th wii well i just havnt plaied much on it and the sinsors dont always work.
bck to PS3 I LOVE IT…its got everything a gamer needs now only if they can get th 360 exlusive games onto PS3 cuz i like fable and will only get 360 for th few games i like. i am a pure RPG Gamer and a NFS/Raceing Gamer so th PS3 has me on thos games and everythin it has. but i will get th 360 for some games.
