This tip will help you increase the speed of Internet Explorer 7 by modifying the maximum number of connections per server. This will allocate the additional bandwidth and reasonably improve internet browsing performance. You can implement this task through the registry editor. It’s advised to backup your Windows Registry before you proceed any forward as this will help you restore it if any problem occurs.
Follow these steps to speed up IE7:
Note: To use this feature, you need to have administrative rights.
1. Click on Start button, open Run and type regedit and press enter.
2. Once the regedit window opens, navigate to –
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternetSettings
3. After you reach it, locate the values called “MaxConnectionsPerServer” and “MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server” in the right side panel.
4. If these values are not there in the right side panel, then right-click over there and create a new
DWORD value with the name “MaxConnectionsPerServer” and “MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server“. Assign a value of 6 to both the keys.
That’s it. Close the registry editor and restart your computer. After the restart, you’ll notice an increase in the browsing speed.
